Becoming independent of fossil fuels

Denmark’s ambition to become independent of fossil fuels will only happen when all relevant parties contribute. At EDF Danmark we are ready to support existing and new customers with our innovative and low carbon solutions to reach that goal.

EDF in Denmark: decarbonization objective

A trusted partner in Denmark's decarbonization journey since 2013

2023 – EDF Danmark wins its first low emission-mobility contracts, building EV chargers for both private and public customers, including Hvidovre Kommune. In addition we strengthen our collaboration with Denmarks municipalities, gaining a 4-year contract with Dragør Municipality to maintain their 2.800 lightpoints.

2022 – Citelum Denmark becomes EDF Danmark, expanding its services, resources, opportunities and ambitions for the future.

2021 – We start the renewal of 6,000 luminaires in Furesø Municipality, improving energy usage and safety for its citizens.
Expanding further beyond the Copenhagen area: 4-year contracts won in Roskilde and Odsherred Municipalities, maintaining more than 16,000 lightpoints.

2020 – An 18-month collaboration with Dynniq Mobility to maintain the traffic signals of Copenhagen Municipality begins.
We work with Hillerød Municipality to renew 3,000 luminaires and Egedal Municipality awards us the contract to maintain their street lighting.

2019 – Greve Municipality and their almost 17,000 lightpoints join our portfolio of street lighting maintenance contracts.

2018 – The expansion continues with the addition of approx. 30,000 lightpoints through maintenance contracts won in Hillerød, Albertslund and Furesø Municipalities.

2017 – The business expands by winning the street lighting maintenance contract for Frederiksberg Municipality.

2013 – Citelum, part of the EDF group, wins the Copenhagen contract and opens an office in Denmark. The contract includes the renewal of 20,000 luminaires using Smart City technology, and a commitment for at least 12 years to maintain the city’s 45,000 lightpoints.

Our commitment to quality, safety and decarbonization

We achieved our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications in 2017. Since then we have intensified our commitment and strive to continuously improve the service we provide for our customers – and the value we create for their organisations and the environment.

Our priority is the safety of our staff, our subcontractors and members of the public. We are therefore particularly proud of having achieved ISO 45001 certification in 2022!
